Stocks end mostly lower; Nasdaq edges to another record


Stocks ended mostly lower to kick off a holiday-shortened week Tuesday, though the Nasdaq Composite rose slightly to score another record close. The Dow Jones Industrial Average
fell around 205 points, or 0.6%, to finish near 34,581, according to preliminary figures. The S&P 500
lost around 9 points, or 0.2%, to close near 4,344, breaking a string of seven consecutive record finishes — the longest since an eight-session run ended on June 17, 1997, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The Nasdaq
edged up around 24 points, or 0.2%, ending near 14,664, marking its 21st record close of 2021.
