Stocks end at records after June jobs report

Stocks ended higher Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite finishing at records after June jobs data showed the U.S. economy created 850,000 jobs in June. The Dow

rose by around 165 points, or 0.5%, to end near 34,798, according to preliminary figures, eclipsing its previous record finish of 34,777.76 set on May 7. The S&P 500

built on Thursday’s record finish, gaining around 33 points, or 0.8%, to close near 4,353. The Nasdaq Composite

+0.81%
added around 120 points to close near 14,642, a gain of 0.8%. For the week, the Dow rose 1.1%, the S&P 500 advanced 1.7% and the Nasdaq gained 2%. U.S. markets will be closed Monday in observance of the Independence Day holiday, which falls on Sunday.
