S&P 500, Nasdaq hit all-time highs after strong June jobs report


Stocks opened slightly higher Friday after a stronger-than-expected June jobs report, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite touching all-time intraday highs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average
rose 69 points, or 0.2%, to 34,703. The S&P 500
was up 0.3% at 4,330.69, while the Nasdaq Composite
gained 0.5% to 14,600.25. The Labor Department on Friday said the U.S. economy created 850,000 jobs in June, topping economist expectations for a reading closer to 700,000; the unemployment rate ticked higher to 5.9%.
