IBM names Gary Cohn its vice chairman

said Tuesday that it has appointed Gary Cohn to serve as vice chairman of its board of directors. Cohn will also join the company’s executive leadership team. Cohn served as assistant for economic policy to President Donald Trump and director of the National Economic Council from January 2017 to April 2018. He previously worked as the president and chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

In a release, Cohn cheered IBM’s “focused growth strategy that will capitalize on the enormous opportunity in hybrid cloud and AI.” IBM shares are up 0.7% in Tuesday morning trading. They’ve gained 3.1% over the past three months as the Dow Jones Industrial Average

has risen 9.7%.
