$1.9 trillion COVID aid package advances in House

The House Budget Committee on Monday voted to advance a $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill, putting the measure on target for a final vote in the chamber as early as Friday. The measure cleared the panel on a 19-to-16 vote, and heads next to the House Rules Committee, where it could be altered. Among the measures in the bill are $1,400 checks to certain Americans, an increase in the minimum wage to $15 an hour, and funding for state and local governments. The Senate would also need to pass the bill for it to be sent to President Joe Biden for signature.
